Bali is well known for its amazing beaches. There are both stunning black sand beaches as well as those with rich golden sand. Talking about beaches, an excellent activity you can indulge in is surfing. However, although Bali has many beautiful beaches, not all of them are suitable for surfing.
One of the best places to surf in Bali is in Canggu. Over the years there have emerged several popular surf breaks. Since those surf breaks are quite popular, it’s not hard to find vendors there to rent a board for a small fee. Go and check online to find good deals from local surf schools in Canggu.
Can you even call it a vacation if you haven’t posted a picture of a smoothie bowl, a super thick burger, or a delicious wrap and posted it on Instagram? Let’s get real for a minute. The cafe scenes in Canggu are remarkable. Not only are the places aesthetically pleasing, the foods are too!
The wide variety and quality restaurants you can find in Canggu are limitless. This is another thing that makes Canggu a superb holiday destination. In addition to colourful smoothie bowls, you’ll find eggs benedict, breakfast burritos, and even the infamous avocado toast.
Also known as the Island of the Gods, Bali has so many wonderful sacred places. Many of which are open to curious visitors. One of the most famous temples in Bali is located close to Canggu, that is Tanah Lot. From Canggu, it’ll take about 20-30 minutes to get there. The temple itself is located 300m off the shore on a rock in the ocean.
Tanah Lot is a sacred place that many believe protects the island from evil sea spirits. If you like visiting places with less crowds, then try going early in the morning. When the tide is right, it’s possible to walk to and from the temple before the water comes up too high. The entry fee is about 70,000 IDR.
Going back to those beautiful beaches we’ve talked about previously, aren’t beaches the perfect place to watch a sunset? Well, Canggu has it all. Canggu Beach is a great place to watch the sun go down. You can even enjoy it while enjoying a sunset cocktail or any beverage of preference.
Set your eyes on the amazing sunset views, yummy drinks, complete with a great vibe at either Batu Bolong Beach, Berawa Beach, or Echo Beach. These beaches offer you a great sunset watching spot with bars close by to get yourself a refreshing drink. Amazing, right?
Canggu isn’t the most pedestrian-friendly place. It’s not a place where sidewalks are easily accessible and are often non-existent. Be mindful of motorbikes that may come zooming down the narrow roads. Coordinate with your accommodation to get transportation, or rent one yourself to have more flexibility. Online taxis are also an option, such as Gojek and Grab.
Travel plans and needs can greatly differ from one person to another. But, if your travel destination is solely Canggu then opt to stay in or around Canggu for better mobility. However, if you are one that likes calm places and would like to just occasionally take day trips to Canggu, then Ubud is the best place to stay. It’s got so many amazing activities, but with a lot less crowd. It’s also more pedestrian friendly.
